Current logo for The Quadrants

(In Production on multiple parts)

To all my friends who were apart of this RP and story:

I hope you know that why I haven't been extremely talkative or at all really, that I love you all for being a part of this universe and my life. I appreciate the efforts and ideas you helped with and the support given for the novels.

Thanks for everything!

-Bud Gaines
Author of Aren Chronicles

The creation of the Quadrants (and Aren Chronicles) as a whole came from a desire to create a new world of fantasy. I spent most of my life playing fantasy games from Final Fantasy to Legend of Zelda. I have a fondness for the simplistic tales of saving the world as well as rescuing and protecting loved ones.

When I was brought into roleplaying I had only done minimal writing outside of that as rewriting scenes from a Link to the Past, which is like my top favorite Zelda game, from Link's point of view instead of overhead. The world I was brought into for roleplaying was Star Wars to an extent, we had lightsabers and force powers but the world grew and that one genre could not contain it. It became just fantasy as a whole instead of its sub parts where we used inspiration from: Star Wars, Zelda, Dragonball, Starfox, Highlander, Pirates of the Caribbean, Bleach, Naruto, Fable, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, and so many other things.

After that got to a point of staleness; we tried Final Dungeon RP which was mainly a mix of DBZ and Final Fantasy with too heavy of DBZ. It got to a point that wasn't fun for anyone who wasn't a DBZ style character and everyone had to have one to even compete.

Enter: Last Arena RP - The origin of the Aren Chronicles.

Started one night when I was staying the night with a close friend, Omega, and we started discussing how FDRP had started changing for the worst at least to us. We wanted to start a new world and a new series that was a bit darker. We began coming with ideas and eventually LARP was made. I came up with a back story of a Sorcerer who was corrupting the world around him through the power of souls that he harnessed and it was up to our characters to stop him!

We brought in our old friends who want to join up and it got a little rough at times because we were all involved in the previous one together as well. Eventually it got better for us and then Omega was off for the military.

I kept it going with a couple friends and eventually after the first series; it came crashing down. Everyone had lives and things to do and it was just left with me and one or two people at a time. Come the second story we were all tired and we stopped.

Years later; I came back to it with the purpose of making it novels. The first two are out and I have more to come!

(In Pre-production)

Allfather's Bastion has a much simpler creation that both The Quadrants and Spellbound. The story behind this series is very short. I was inspired by Thor (Marvel), Paganism, Witchcraft, and Norse Mythology specifically; Thor from Norse mythology but that's mainly because I do have a red beard and am a bigger guy. It was a concept idea for a future Renaissance Festival to go as Thor.

Fyri the main character is based on how I believe I would look if I was able to drop the weight, which is possible, but my motivation for the gym has been gone a while and I'm trying to get it back.

During the time I was thinking about this I was playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla which is a game I absolutely love for the story and the world. When I found out you could Mjolnir and Thor's Armor, I went straight for it. It just looks so cool.

This story is under production and I'm not sure how I'm actually going to start putting it out when it is ready. It could be a book, a web series, or short stories. But they will all tie into the universe of Aren Chronicles and they will meet characters from all over my series.

Logo for Spellbound

(Pre-Production)

Spellbound was the first story I ever wrote that was over one hundred pages and it wasn't done yet. That was the background information for it before the Roleplay was to start with a close friend and girl friend at the time. It didn't get really far but it was fun while it lasted. This story is dear to me because it allowed me to write a story around an old character just with a new name.

Dragonius "Fuji" Fujisha was a powerful mage in the Final Dungeon Roleplay but when it became overrun with DBZ stuff, he lost his role as a mage. He was reborn into Spellbound as Drake, no first or last name, just Drake. At one point he uses Fuji as an alias.

This story was darker and I didn't shy away from painful and brutal moments from characters being impaled in the throat and a bit more "disgusting" things, if you know what I mean. I wanted the story to be dark and I wanted bad guys to get what they deserve.

War was waged across the area where it takes place.

Summoner Army versus The Mages of Color (they were basically the classes from Final Fantasy III)

As said above, this series was heavily based on Final Fantasy III job system. It had mages in variety, dark knights, dragoons, summoners, fighters, and more. I love that job system and I'm so glad they brought it back for Strangers in Paradise in a way.

Not sure how this one will be released either but it's coming.
